A Week in Scotland and Beyond

Scotland, just the name brings images of kilts, history, and magical people and places. Scotland has been a bucketlist item for my daughters and myself for years and in August of 2022 we hopped a flight over the pond for a week long visit. Let me first state that a week is not enought to see everything, but then again I could spend years there and it would still not be enough time. Whether you prefer a city or the country Scotland has got you covered.

When we started planning our trip we got overwhelmed with how many amazing things there were to do and to see. With only spending a week in Scotland we had to make some hard decisions, what are the things that we must see and do! Between the three of us we came up with a list. I had three requirements, see a highland cow, see the Fairy Pools, and stay in a castle. My daughters wanted to stay in a castle, ride the Harry Potter train, get a tatoo, and bungee jump off a bridge. We planned and were lucky enough that we got to do all our bucketlist items and so much more. Our adventure went like this...

Day 1 Edinburgh

  • InterContinental Edinburgh, The George Hotel (it was very late)

Day 2 - Bamburgh, UK - Alnwick, UK - Edinburgh

  • Day trip - Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter) - got to see my Highland COOS!!!

  • Dinner at The Witchery by the Castle

  • Royal Mile

Day 3 - Edinburgh

  • Victoria Street

  • Grassmarket

  • Ghost Tour

Day 4 - Edinburgh - Pitlochry - Invergarry
